God’s Timing Is Perfect: Even In the Most Unexpected Ways

A Tiny Piece of Glass: How God's Timing is Perfect Even in the Smallest Things

This story amazes me. It’s an example of how God’s timing is perfect – not just in the biggest, most important areas of your life – but also in the smallest, where you might not give it a second thought. For seven years, I had a tiny piece of glass in my temple, near my right eye. It was a small piece of the windshield from the vehicle I was ejected from during a car accident in October 2013. It was in my face and visible as a small shade of blue under my skin.

It was a tiny piece of glass that lived under my skin for seven years.

A tiny piece of glass – one that I saw in the mirror getting ready every the morning.

A tiny piece of glass – that if I let myself, would remind me of that day.

A tiny piece of glass – where I could choose to remember the horrors of that day, or choose to remember God’s grace, His divine saving hand, and all He has done.

The glass never really bothered me. I got quite used to it actually, until December 2020 when it started to feel uncomfortable. I was referred to a plastic surgeon at the University of Michigan, who determined it needed to be surgically removed.

I set an appointment at U of M Plastic Surgery for two months later in February 2021. I scheduled an appointment. I planned to have it surgically removed. But here is where God’s perfect timing, and plan for something so small, was different than mine: the very day before my scheduled appointment with the surgeon (of all days over the past 7 years!) the glass actually broke through my skin on it’s own!

Thus, the doctor didn’t need to make any incisions as he anticipated and told me it was the best scenario that could have played out. He removed it easily and expected little to no scarring. A little scar is no big deal (trust me, I have several others), but look how God worked and caused the glass to break through on its own the very day before my appointment of all days!

God's Timing Is Perfect Even In the Smallest Things
The tiny piece of windshield removed from my temple in Februrary 2021.

That tiny piece of glass to me represents how God cares for the smallest of things. He’s always working in ultimately, God’s timing is perfect every single situation.

In the aftermath of the accident and the injuries I deal with, that little piece of glass was not a big deal. But look how He cared about something so small. It’s easy to see His hand in the big things, but He is right there in the little, the daily things we often don’t give a second thought.

May you be encouraged to seek Him out today and everyday. And may you see Him in the smallest areas of your life – He’s right there.

Ever since this “miraculous timing” post, I have been noticing God’s miraculous timing in my own life. It fills my soul with joy to look back and appreciate the pain, the difficulties, the waiting, and the perseverance. This morning I read:
Romans 5:1-5 NKJV. It brought me back to your blog- hope persevered. Thank you for sharing your journey!!!
